Tonga Diaries - What next? 🔮

Since I've been back, people have asked me if I'd do another eXXpedition voyage.

My answer is always a swift "no".

As I said before, boats and I aren't destined to be long term companions.

Short trips, sure.

Long trips, much less sure 🤢

 

BUT

 

Despite knowing how sick I would become,

If I had to go back in time, I would still do this Tonga eXXpedition all over again.

Because it was amazing.

Experiencing nature in all her glory.

Witnessing the beauty we need to protect.

Contributing to the effort.

For me, it was a once in a lifetime experience.

 

I also met...

...my amazing crew mates who are doing brilliant things to combat plastic pollution in their respective industries - architecture, marine science, packaging innovation, women's health and more.

...the visionary people in Tonga who see the priceless value of their islands and are thinking and working holistically to secure the future of their environment.

...the globally minded eXXpedition team leading us and the mind-bogglingly skilled professional sailing crew without whom the voyages wouldn't exist.

Everyone putting their unique skills and strengths towards the cause.

Making a difference in their own way.

I know I couldn't have met this inspiring and diverse group of people any other way.

 

As for me, I'm going to continue working towards lowering waste in my work in the creative and entertainment industries.

Since Tonga, it's blindingly obvious that, that aspect of my work is more important than ever.

What exact path will I take? I'm not yet sure.

The Tonga trip has given me a lot to think about.

But as my favourite Rumi quote goes, "As you start to walk on the way, the way appears."

So watch this space.

 

I'll also be continuing my role as an eXXpedition ambassador, raising awareness about ocean plastic pollution.
